SOCIETY OF CLERKS-AT-THE TABLE HELD ITS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING IN FREETOWN

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) African Region, Society of Clerks-at-the-Table (SoCATT) on Tuesday 7/6/2022 held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Freetown International Conference Center at Aberdeen in Freetown Sierra Leone. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and chart the way forward for the effective functioning of Clerks at the Table.
In his welcome remarks, the Clerk of the Sierra Leone Parliament who also doubles as the West Africa Steering Committees Sub-Region Representative Hon. Paran Umar Tarawally said it was an honor to host the SoCATT meeting in Sierra Leone and reiterated that, the country is committed to CPA and SoCATT affairs.

Speaking On behalf of the Chairperson of the Steering Committee of SoCATT, the Clerk of the Sierra Leone Parliament Hon. Paran Umar Trawelley welcome all and thanked delegates for coming and wished them fruitful deliberations.
In their deliberations, they adopted the Minute of the previous Annual General Meeting. Chairing the Tracking Register of the Resolutions of the SOCATT Africa Region AGM held in Abuja, Nigeria, the Deputy Principal Clerk M&E National Assembly of Zambia SoCATT Technical Team Led Person Julius Kampamba, observed and reported on its previous activities and working plans.
The Secretary of Western Cape Provincial Parliament and Southern Africa Representatives of SoCATT, Romeo Adams, Report of the Chairperson of the Steering Committee of the SoCATT African Region said the Steering committee was established in November 2021 in their Regional Annual Meeting in Abuja. He said they have a mandate for three years and reports on its mandate and achievements.
During their deliberations on the “Draft, 2022-2026 SoCATT African Region Strategic Plan and the Draft Revised SoCATT Africa Region Rules”, were unanimously adopted as a working tool.
The Financial Report was carried out and adopted by the AGM and ratification of the approved 2023 Budget was adopted unanimously.
