The Mamasa Lifesaving Hospital in Bo
The People in Bo City in the Southern Region of Sierra Leone have on Tuesday 31 May celebrated Mamasa Lifesaving Hospital at the Kendeyama Community after its clock one year of existence since its establishment in the country. According to the CEO of Mamasa, the hospital was established by to provide affordable, and better healthcare services delivery.
He said prior to the establishment of the said hospital, many Sierra Leoneans had considered Bo District and its surroundings to be one of the underserved communities when it comes to the provision of affordable and better healthcare service delivery in the country.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mamasa Life Saving Hospital recounted that the desire to help humanity, at community and national levels, led him and his family to construct the hospital facility; in order to improve the healthcare system of the Bo community and Sierra Leone by extension.
‘’ Secondly, I got this inspiration to construct the Mamasa Life Saving Hospital, after the second State Opening of Parliament in 2019, when his Excellency President Julius Maada Bio urged citizens, especially private organizations to engage and invest in the healthcare system of the county. My wife and I challenged ourselves to answer the call of the President to construct this health facility for our people ’’ Hon. Rogers narrated.
The CEO further stated that since the establishment and commissioning of the hospital, he has signed several memorandums of understanding with national and international organizations, Government and private institutions and individual families to handle their primary and secondary health care services.
Some of the institutions he highlighted include Njala University, the Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF)–Holland, Oral Insurance Company and many more.
In the bid to enhance accessibility and affordability for the effective running of the Hospital, the Chief Executive Officer noted that more facilities have been added to the hospital including a well-constructed congenial Resource Center to help in the smooth running of the hospital.
The Resource Center includes a Minimart, conference center, restaurant, a medical Library (where medical books are kept for further research by medical staff) and many More.
Hon. Rogers further revealed that his facility has the capacity to conduct over 113 essential diagnostic tests adding that the hospital management has also procured Hematology analyzers which can count and identify blood cells at high speed with accuracy.
“I want to assure you that we will work harder and use our expertise to save lives and improve the health system in this country,” he maintained.
He concluded by stating that development should not only be left in the hands of the government. He therefore called on every citizen to demonstrate the moral responsibility to be a part of the development of the nation.
One of the patients discharged from the hospital, Francis Sowa described the CEO’s strides as a show of goodwill and patriotism; and therefore encouraged all well-meaning Sierra Leoneans to engage in such ventures which will not only improve the health sector but will add to the growth of the nation.
According to him, the constant supply of water and electricity, Air-Conditioner and DSTV coupled with the professionalism of nurses are just few of the qualities that differentiates Mamasa from other hospitals in Sierra Leone
