WORLD VISION UPLIFTS HOSPITALS WITH 30 HIGH-TECH MEDICAL EXAMINATION BEDS

World Vision Sierra Leone has handed over 30 high-tech medical examination beds to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS) to uplifts government hospitals across the country.

World Vision Sierra Leone has handed over 30 high-tech medical examination beds to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS) to uplifts government hospitals across the country. According to the National Coordinator for World Vision Sierra Leone, Sagane Thiaw the provision of the 30 high-tech medical examination beds for hospitals in Freetown and the regional hospitals is a strong commitment to promoting the building of a resilient and responsive health system in Sierra Leone. The handing ceremony was held a few days ago at the World Vision National Office in Freetown.

While handing over the medical examination beds to the Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation, Princes Dugba, Sagane Thiaw assured the Ministry that as an organization, they are committed to supporting the Government to attain Universal Health Coverage for the people of Sierra Leone. He Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation from 2020 to date, World Vision health projects implementation has recorded so many achievements.

He expressed gratitude to the MoHS for their commitment to attaining the health-focused SDGs through the Universal Health Coverage Roadmap 2021-2030; the reviewed National Health and Sanitation Policy; the National Health Sector Strategic Plan; Health Financing Strategy among others.

“Since 2020 to date World Vision health projects implementation recorded the following achievements: Two new health facilities constructed in Kono district Semedu and Kemedu with staff quarters. 27 health facilities benefited from some sort of rehabilitation with a complete WASH package (solar mechanized borehole, VIP latrine, Incinerator, extended delivery rooms, Ash pit among others” he explained.

He continued “Support of MoHS with 24 motorbikes for outreach immunization and ANC services in Kono, Pujehun, Bo and Bonthe, support of 4 district Community Health Centers (CHCs) in Bonthe district with generators; a complementary to the solar in order to ensure the vaccine cold chain is well kept for vaccines, support to coastal communities in Bonthe Island with 2 motorized boats to facilitate referrals from coastal communities such as Dema in Bonthe Island, and support of 342 Health facilities with more than 300,000 sachets of RUTF for the treatment of malnutrition” he highlighted.

Sagane Thiaw told the Deputy Minister that the provision of the 30 high-tech medical examination beds for hospitals is a strong commitment to promoting the building of a resilient and responsive health system in Sierra Leone, noting that the distribution of the high-tech medical beds will be distributed country-wide accordingly.

“For tertiary Hospitals in Western Area; Connaught Hospital- 3, Ola During Children’s Hospital- 3, PCMH- 3, Kingharma Maternal Hospital 3, Rokupa Hospital 3, Macauley Hospital 3 and for the Regional Hospitals Kenema Government Hospital  3, Bo Government Hospital  3, Makeni Government Hospital  3 and Port Loko Government Hospital 3” he explained.

30 high-tech medical examination beds for government hospitals

He pointed out that this would be an allocation of 18 to the Tertiary Hospitals in the Western Area and 12 to the Regional Hospitals, disclosing that the 30 high-tech medical beds are valued at Le 141,600,000 (one hundred and forty-one million, six hundred thousand Leones. He said their aspiration is that all children should enjoy good health, be educated for life, be cared for and protected, and experience the love of God. 

“As I conclude, I want to reiterate my gratitude to all dignitaries present here for sparing their time to grace this occasion. Kindly rest assured of the commitment of WV to continue the collaboration with the Government of Sierra Leone for the accomplishment of the 2030 agenda” he concluded.

Receiving the beds, the acting Minister MoHS, Madam Dugba appreciated the donation and promised to use them for the intended purpose, stating that looking at the vision statement of the World Vision, showed that they care for the girl child.
