Leone Stars to lock on with Nigeria and others in 2023 AFCON qualifiers

Sierra Leone has been drawn in a group along with Nigeria, Guinea Bissau, and Sao Tome and Principe for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this year.

Sierra Leone has been drawn in a group along with Nigeria, Guinea Bissau, and Sao Tome and Principe for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this year. Now the Total Engineer AFCON 2023 qualifiers match day One and Match Two will play on the 30th of May and 14th of June 2023.

According to the AFCON 2022 draws, 48 countries have been drawn for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations group qualifiers that will be hosted in the Ivory Coast. Sierra Leone falls in Group A along with Nigeria, Guinea Bissau, and Sao Tome and Principe. Leone Stars of Sierra Leone has qualified for the continental stage on occasions in 1994, 1996, and recently the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Nigeria which was considered with Sierra Leone for the previous qualifiers falls in the same group. They made their 19th appearance in the Africa Cup of Nations and made their first appearance in 1963. They are three times Africa Cup of Nations winners with their recent title in 2014.

Guinea Bissau has reached the Africa Cup of Nations three making its debut in 2017. Whilst Sao Tome and Principe have been described as an underdog.

According to the Africa Confederation of Football, the Director of Competition, Samson Adamu, Ivory Coast as host nation despite they are placed in group 8, they have gained automatic qualification but however, it only team from other three likes of Lesotho, Comoros, Zambia will join them making it two from that group.

Total Energy is Africa Cup of Nations 2023 pre-qualifiers for matchday 1 to march day 2 as scheduled for the 30th May and 14th June 2022.
